This family has been in McNairy county, Tennessee for almost 200 years. It was founded by a Bridger or Bridgeth Parrott, from Nash or Johnston county, North Carolina. His origin strongly suggests kinship with the 4 French Brothers group, or other early North Carolina Parrott families, such as the Nash Co. North Carolina group the Granville group, or the Francis group. Case in point, Francis Parrott got his land ca. 1700. It was on the west side of the Chowan River, on Salmon Creek, adj to land of Col. Thomas Pollock Sr., and George, his son. A John Perritt bought 640 acres on the north side of Bridgers Creek near the Roanoke River in 1710, & sold it in 1728. His neighboring land was owned by George Pollock.

Several trees on Ancestry identify his parents as Augustine Jr. and Lydia Bridgers Parrott. No supporting documentation is presented, and Augustine Jr is associated with Mathews Co., Virginia, rather tnan North Carolina.

1. Bridgers Parrott was born in 1815 in Nash Co., North Carolina. Another name for Bridgers was Bridgeth Parrot.

Notes: Marries in Johnston Co., NC. Then is 1840 census for Nash Co., North Carolina. Then in Roane Co., TN. The 7-year difference in the ages of his first 2 children leads to the speculation that the eldest child was from a first marriage.

A couple of trees on ancestry show him to be the s/o of Austine Jr & Lydia Bridgers Parrott. Since they were b in 1760, Lydia would have been 55 and Augustine 65 when Bridgers was born. There is no supporting documentation. Assuming the lineage is correct, it is more likely they were his grandparents.

Bridgers married Minerva. Minerva was born in 1825 in North Carolina.

Mrs. Jones retired from Savannah Manufacturing after working there for 32 years. She enjoyed sewing, cooking, traveling and dining out. She loved visiting with Senior Citizens. Mrs. Jones was a member of the Souls Harbour Church and was a Sunday School Teacher for 35 years. Although she only had 11 grandchildren she was a granny to everybody.

Mrs. Jones departed this life on December 9, 2010 at the age of 74 years, 10 months, and 23 days.

Four persons were killed and two seriously injured in a two-car head-on collision apparently two miles east of Somerville on U.S. 64 at 2 p.m. Saturday.

According to the Fayette County Sheriff's department a car driven by Jerry Austin of 710 Dover Rd., West Memphis, Ark. was headed east when it collided with a west-bound car driven by Olie Rivers, a Fayette County school teacher. The car driven by Austin burst into flames upon colliding with the other automobile. The Somerville Fire Department was called out to extinguish the blaze.

Two passengers were killed in the Austin car. They were: Mrs. Diane Austin, 17, wife of Jerry Austin, and Angela Austin, 11 months. Jerry Austin and Donnie Parrat (sic), brother of Mrs. Austin, were rushed to Baptist Hospital in Memphis where they remain in critical condition.

Sherif Guy Davis said two squirrell hunters found skeletal remains near Bear Creek in the Lutts Community area of Wayne County on Sept. 15.

Davis said a Nashville anthropologist and forensic expert had positively identified the remains as Mr. Parrott and the cause of death as a shotgun wound to the left neck and skull regions.
Family members told the sheriff's department they had last seen him alive in Hardin County in July.

Graveside services for Mr. Parrott will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Crump Cemetery with Shackleford Funeral Home in Charge.

Surviving are three daugthers, Sherry, Kim and Lisa Parrott, all of Savannah; two brothers, Donnie Parrott and Denny Parrott, both of Crump.

44. Donald M. Parrott (Earnest⁴, James Monroe³, Robert H.², Bridgers¹) was born on 2 Aug 1949 in Hardin Co., Tennessee and died on 25 Dec 2010 in Savannah, Hardin Co., Tennessee, at age 61.

Notes: Donald Parrott was born in Hardin County, Tenn., on Aug. 2, 1949, the son of the late Ernest Pug and Katie Newman Parrott.

Mr. Parrott was a truck driver. He attended Love and Truth Church. Mr. Parrott loved trading old cars and he invested in real estate buying and selling.

He departed this life on Saturday, Dec. 25, at Savannah Healthcare in Savannah, at the age of 61 years, 4 months and 23 days.

Mr. Parrott is survived by one daughter, Katie Parrott of Bradenton, Fla.; three grandchildren, Andrew, Kailynn and Austyn; one brother, Denny Parrott of Crump.

In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by one sister, Diane Austin and one brother, Danny Parrott.

Notes: Von "Janice" Parrott Gaines, 70, passed away Thursday, September 7, 2023, at Moses Cone Hospital with her loving family by her side. Memorial Service will be held Wednesday, September 13, 2023, at 3:00pm at George Brothers Funeral Service.

Janice was born in Beauregard, LA to the late Uther and Eva Bailey Parrott. She worked as a dietary aide for many years. She previously attended True Light Baptist Church. She enjoyed spending time with her family going to yard sales and was lovingly known as "Niecy" and "Nana" to many family members and friends. She also enjoyed gardening when her health allowed, cooking, sewing, crafting, Facebooking, and watching HSN.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by husband Dale Blount; infant daughter Stacy Parrott; and brother Donnie Parrott.

She is survived by her daughters, Stephanie Parrott, Staphanie Harris, and Daphanie Droney; grandchildren Brianna Parrott, Brian Parrott (Sydney), James Straw, Sarah Droney, Chris Droney, and Jalen Parrott; siblings, Gervis Parrott (Lois), Dennis Parrott, David Parrott (Cheryl), Donna Parrott, and Dervis "Monk" Parrott; and numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends who will miss her dearly.
The family will receive friends from 2:00-3:00 pm at the funeral home prior to the service.

As a young man, Donald proudly served our country in the United States Army. After is military service he went on to work for Boise Cascade and later retired as an Assistant Supervisor. His passion was being with his family, and enjoyed spending time together with them as often as possible. He also loved the outdoors, and working in his garden. He will be truly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until the time of Memorial Services on Wednesday, January 4, 2022 in the Chapel of Hixson Brothers Funeral Home, Marksville.
